Day 1 Shot 1
This is the very first scene I directed on this show and for a television show in general. The one thing I was 100% sure of going in was the final shot. Where we see Omar isolated in the corner of the massive grey frame. Feeling completely alone. Mother nature, Sten (DP) and the crew all combined to make it possible. Where we pick up Omar and his wife Naomie are finally approaching a good place after a near marriage ending series of set backs. This all makes this conversation that much harder for Omar to begin. Dead man walking for a theoretical crime.
“These Kids Are Different”
Johnson - Ep.305 - Following a deep conversation on family and fatherhood Omar’s son turns the sweet moment into a competition when he and his friends challenge his Uncle Greg and father Omar to “come run some routs, unless you’re scared”. Greg takes the bate and an awesome fatherhood / family moment ensues, one that creates the type of childhood memories we all EVENTUALLY look back on fondly.
